antique shopping

I had a fun weekend with my sister in atlanta at the scott antique market. they host the "world's largest indoor antique show." and boy, is it ginormous. we probably could have spent several days there (and it was both inside & outside). we didn't buy anything, sure had a fun time looking.

snow in ATL

well, we don't get snow in florida (thank goodness), so I flew up to atlanta to play in what was left after their 5-inch snow storm a week ago. kara & I had a low-key weekend watching old movies, playing in the slush & eating delicious food. thanks for a great visit, sissy!

farmers market

a few weekends ago we visited the dekalb farmers market in georgia. this place is absolutely fantastic. we left with some rosemary focaccia, fresh chocolate chip cookies, gnocchi, pumpkins & several different kinds of beer & wine. I wish we had a place like this close to home. I think I'd be a much better cook if I was constantly inspired by all this beautiful food.

{lots o' pumpkins}

{fresh brussel sprouts}

{the brightest purple eggplant I have ever seen}

{extra credit if you know what this fruit is. hint: it's found in asia & is extremely smelly!}

flip burger boutique: part 2

robert & I went to atlanta over the weekend so he could see the guided by voices reunion tour & so I could visit with my sissy. we had a great weekend. I took robert to flip burger boutique (last time I went with kara). we went for a late lunch at 4pm, so the place was empty. and as always, the food was delicious.

sublime doughnuts

my sister took me to the most delicious breakfast on friday in atlanta: sublime doughnuts and they are just that! we met the chef kamal grant, who is “trying to go for someone’s last meal on death row” with his delicious donut flavors. gotta love that.

we ordered the fresh strawberry n creme, ying yang twist, oreo & the dulce de leche- all were spectacular. I really wanted to try the nutella flavor. oh, and the frosted crossiant. and the reeces penut butter cup... but they were out. you snooze, you lose. you've gotta check out this place if you're ever in atlanta.

trader joe's

you know you live in a real city when you've got a trader joe's. a trip to atlanta wouldn't be complete without stocking up on all the tj's essentials... cereal, yogurt-covered pretzels, cuban black beans, trader giotto's olive oil & peanut butter cups. maybe one day our city will be cool-enough to have one.
what are your favorite trader joe's products?

chocolate pink

as you may know, I'm on a quest to find the best cupcakes around. so after several recommendations, kara & I really wanted to check out chocolate pink in atlanta. it's a really cute cafe that serves all kinds of pastries & coffee. both of our cupcakes were delicious! kara got the coconut (coconut milk pound cake with coconut sour cream filling & white chocolate buttercream icing) & I tried the mochaccino (vanilla chiffon cake with coffee cream filling, topped with chocolate ganache & coffee buttercream). I had to stop myself for ordering another one...

antique shopping in atlanta

kara & I love finding unique pieces at thrift stores, estate sales & antique shops. so one of the first things we did in atlanta was visit kuduz antique market & a bunch of different stores in chamblee's antique row.

here are just a couple of photos (unfortunately most of the pictures I took are on my lomo & I haven't developed the film yet).

sisters

"a loyal sister is worth a thousand friends". ~ marian eigerman

I went to visit my sweet sister in atlanta this past weekend. we had a blast chatting, eating, site-seeing, antique shopping & giggling. that's pretty much all we do when we're together is giggle...constantly. I know it sounds a bit cliche, but kara knows me better than any friend I've ever had & she loves me regardless. no matter what, I know that she'll always be there for me (& vise-versa). sisters are pretty much the best thing in the world.  this quote above says it all.

this week I'll be blogging about some of the fun things to do in atlanta.
