blueberry picking 2012

on saturday morning, robert & I got up early & drove out to the blueberry farm to do a little picking. it was a beautiful day, not typical of a florida summer. there was a breeze in the air & not an ounce of humidity. we ended up with over 4 pounds of blueberries in about an hour. I have grand plans of everything i'm going to make with them, but last year when we went, they were so sweet & delicious that we ended up eating them all by the handful.

the florida keys

robert & I celebrated our 6th anniversary by escaping to the florida keys. it was a much-needed vacation, full of sun, good food & lots of rest & relaxation. have I mentioned how much I adore spending time with my sweet husband? here are a few photos from our getaway if you'd like to see.

{we had an amazing brunch at this restaurant one morning}
 {a bucket of fish to feed the tarpon}
{check out these hungry piranas tarpon. they jump up & snatch the fish right out of your hand}
{one of three dinners at sunset. the sky was beautiful; the photos don't do it justice}

photobooth

here are some more photobooth pics from robert's party. we truly intended this to be for the guests. honestly. but somehow, the kids & robert & I managed to monopolize it just a tad.

{this is pretty much the most awesome family ever. ever. I want to be like them when I grow up}
{the "put on your best disguise" pose}
 {so cute troy + jenny}
{this is the part where we forgot there were other guests at the party we should be attending to}
 {and in case you didn't already think we were vain-enough, we set up the booth again the next day & took more pics of ourselves.}

happy birthday, husband!

I can hardly believe that my adorable mister turned the big four-oh yesterday. we had a southern themed party last night that was tons of fun. I'm just now getting around to downloading the pictures, so I will definitely share later in the week, but it was a blast! happy 40th to the sweetest, smartest, funniest, kindest, most talented husband on the planet. I adore you, robert.

robert's weekend

a few weekends ago robert attended the rolex 24-hour endurance race (I'm sure he would like me to preface that this is not nascar) in daytona with a bunch of his buddies. he took these these shots of the track & somehow made them look miniature. not sure how he did it, but I think it looks really cool. reminds me of that pbs show I used to watch as a kid, "shining time station". anyone else remember that?

card catalog of love

although we aren't huge valentine people (we like to say we celebrate love every day of the year!), I wanted to do something sweet for my adorable husband for valentine's day. I saw this amazing diy project here & copied it, making dewey decimal catalog cards to document memories that we've celebrated each year.

I just used the card catalog number as the date, the book title as the name of our memory and the publisher as the location of the event. I printed them all out on cream card stock & put them into this box that I picked up an antique booth. I plan on adding new cards to the box every year, so many moons from now, we'll be able to look back and reminisce on our "chapters of love".

robert surprised me & picked out these gorgeous flowers for me at our local flower shop. flowers for no reason are the best!

a fresh start

after 6 1/2 years of working at the same advertising agency, I have decided to move on. I took a job in a different field in the corporate world. it's quite a change & while I'm excited about the new opportunity, I will always be grateful for my time at the agency.

see, my first job was pretty special, in that it lead me to meet the man of my dreams. I never would have imagined that the good-looking art director would have ever glanced at the kid-out-of-college creative assistant. but sure enough, it quickly turned to love. I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to work with robert on commercials in some amazing cites, share lunch with him everyday in the lunch room & always have a fun date to sit with at employee-only staff meetings.

I'll miss working with my coworkers & all of the fun, but mainly I will miss my favorite art director husband, robert.

robert's birthday cake

this year I kind of skipped out on robert's birthday. I was out of town. on a trip that I myself planned. not thinking about the date of robert's birthday when I scheduled it months ago. it saddened me a whole lot more than it did him. I don't think boy's really care much about celebrating birthdays like we ladies do.

so anyway, I really tried to make it up to him by giving him some great gifts, making a delicious italian meal & by baking a cake of his choice, which happened to be "marble cake". sigh. I'm not gonna lie- I was seriously disappointed with his choice. I mean, who chooses "marble cake" over a delicious vanilla cake with buttercream frosting? or a rich chocolate lava cake. or red velvet. heck, even carrot cake sounds more fun than "marble".

and then I found this recipe, which saved the day & got me excited about "marble cake": mocha hazelnut marble cake. so there. I made it & it was delicious. sorry for judging you, marble cake.

like minds (& stomachs)

I love traveling with robert more than anything. so when I found out he was going to be in new york city for work a week before I was going to be there, I was super bummed that we would just miss each other. but he took lots of great pics to show me when he got home.

except that I didn't get a chance to look at his photos before I left for my trip. robert had mentioned visiting eataly & thought I would like it too. so I stopped by one day & left with a cone full of gelato & sat in from of the flatiron to eat it. I took a picture.

little did I know, robert had done the exact same thing... and taken a photo of it! I swear, we did not know about each other's stop for gelato (the same flavor, I might add) in front of the flatiron. or about documenting it with a photo. I'm pretty sure we were meant to be.

{robert's fragola gelato in a cup- he says you get more that way -in front of the flatiron on 9/7/10}

don't judge

we all have stupid obsessions. I mean, maybe I'm 28 years old & my favorite tv show still happens to be beverly hills 90210 (the original, duh). and maybe my main motivation for leaving work by 5pm is so I can catch the last 30 minutes of 90210 on soapnet. and maybe the highlight of my year was meeting jennie garth at a car show when I was twelve. and there might be a chance, that when visiting los angeles for only three days, that I made my husband spend one of them driving me around to all of the 90210 locations. don't judge, okay.

with the help of this absolutely amazing website (I would seriously donate money if they had a paypal button on their site), I was able to see all of my favorite 90210 locations. if you're not a fan of the show, you won't understand my excitement (sigh). but if you are (you are awesome), I posted some photos so you can share in my childish amusement. baa-baa-ba-ba, baa-baa-ba-ba - (phap, phap)

{"it's dylan. you know the drill"}

{I'm leaving room so that robert can photoshop dylan's porsche in front of me}

 {welcome to casa walsh!}

  {ok. don't get too upset. but the peach pit is now a japanese restaurant!}

and in case you didn't get enough 90210 in this post, a very important day is coming up. yea. that's right. 09.02.10! and of course I'm having a party. will share pics after the event.
