2012

well, I'm not gonna lie. 2012 was a sucky year. nevertheless, I wanted to continue my tradition of wrapping up the year with some of the positive highlights. 

-I celebrated my 30th birthday. I am officially old
-we took a family day trip to check out peaches to the beaches
-there were lots of bike rides (thanks to my new bicycle basket) 
-some really great bands came to play in our city (beach house, wilco, jim gaffigan &mark kozelek)
-we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary! 
-a mini vacation to the florida keys
-blueberry picking is now officially an annual tradition
-my mom & I had a fun road trip to see my sister
-fall happened in nyc & I got to see it
-hola costa rica! 
-fun times with friends exploring renningers antiques & finding treasures
-we shook things up & went to atlanta for thanksgiving
-I (almost) successfully completed a year of cookies (not sure what happened to june)

2011

this post is a little delayed, but I wanted to quickly recap the year of 2011 (mainly for memories sake). previous year-end recaps for 2009 & 2010. 

• we had a little relaxing beach staycation. 
• lots of family time on the river, in the summer, in the winter & in the rain.
• we celebrated our five year anniversary!
• to celebrate, we took a trip to some amazing cities, including london, bruges & amsterdam (I still need to post photos!).
• robert turned the big 4-0 & we threw him a party.
• some good bands came to town that we got tickets to see: junip, fleet foxes, the walkman & tv on the radio.  
• robert entered a fun poster contest. 
• we rearranged some rooms in our home a bit & got some new furniture.
• I can't neglect to mention the royal wedding. 
• I went blueberry picking for the first time in july & plan to make it an annual occurrence. 
• we got lost in a corn maize.
• a visit to palm springs & san diego (need to post pics of san diego too!) to visit good friends.
• I successfully completed a year of cakes!

2010

I find that most people like to look back on the year & reflect on what they've done, how they've grown, etc. I, however, don't usually do that, mainly because of my (lack of) memory; I can't remember dates or years for the life of me. It blows my mind when people says things like, "I had that same haircut back in the summer of 2003," or "my favorite tv episode was in the beginning of season four." in my head, time all just blends together. and I know that sounds like a bad thing, but for me, I suppose it's just about living in the present & being in the moment. trying not to focus on mistakes in the past or fret too much about the unknowns in the future. (or, maybe that's just my excuse for having a bad date-memory.)

last year I made a list of some of the highlights of 2009. I thought I'd do the same for 2010 (thank goodness for my calendar or else I'd never remember what year anything happened).

- we watched bobby bowden coach his last football game ever at the gator bowl.
- robert & I started hitchcock movie nights.
- I spent a whirlwind of a weekend in la visiting robert while he was there for work.
- my baby sister turned 25 & we threw her a party.
- robert made me the coolest piece of art ever for my birthday.
- we celebrated our 4th anniversary with a trip to puerto rico. 
- so many sweet babies were born (seen here & here).
- we went to maine to visit some great friends & explored new england with them.
- I started a new job after 6+ years at the same ad agency.
- I visited my good friend kristin in nyc & then we took a bus down to dc for a visit.
- you + me blog was started exactly 1 year & 168 posts ago.

happy new year! I'm not one for making resolutions, because I know that inevitably I will end up breaking them. and that kind of bums me out. so I figure if I don't make them then I can't disappoint myself, right? pretty pathetic, I know. but regardless, I want to wish all of you a year that is filled with:
